Update #030 - Batch 1 & 2 production progress
Share
TL;DR
- Vext 2.0 is in the final stages of manufacturing, with assembly and packaging up next
- We are sharing new images from the factory, including frames, filters, and LED modules
- All units ship with firmware that enables hardware self-testing and early issue detection
- We are opening conversations with European creators in food, health, and related spaces
- We are exploring financing options to shorten wait times and continue improving Vext at an even faster pace
- The next update will follow in a few weeks with more factory progress
Hi everyone,
Hundreds of Vext 2.0s are now being produced, and manufacturing is moving forward according to plan. For those waiting on their cabinets, this is the phase where decisions made over the past year take physical form.
Manufacturing progress
Most components of Vext 2.0 are now in their final stages of manufacturing, with final assembly, testing and packaging as the next steps.
The images below show parts of the system being produced at the factory last week, including the base frames, filter holders and water tank lids. The components shown here have already taken their final form. They are laser cut and bent with high precision, then prepared for a food-safe coating that completes their function and gives each surface a refined, long-lasting finish.
Base frames.
Filter holders.
Water tank lids.
The LED modules shown below reflect how we think about design in Vext 2.0. The system uses two independently controlled full-spectrum LED channels, allowing light to be balanced not only for plant requirements, but also for how the garden looks and feels at home.
Cooler light supports compact, leafy growth. Warmer light plays a key role during flowering. Moving between these spectra allows Vext to guide plant development with intention, rather than locking growth into a single, static lighting condition.
This adaptability extends beyond plant science. As the day shifts toward evening, the light can become warmer and softer, reducing blue light and settling more naturally into the space around it. Vext is designed to grow food, but also to feel at home in the room it occupies, from morning through night.
Software and system reliability
Alongside hardware production, the software has continued to evolve.
All Vext 2.0 units will ship with firmware that allows the cabinet to test its own hardware before leaving the factory. This same capability continues during everyday use.
The system can detect issues such as a non-functioning pump or fogging unit, problems with lighting, or irregular sensor behavior. In many cases, this happens before plants are affected.
The intent here is not complexity, but resilience. A system that understands its own state is easier to trust, and less dependent on manual intervention.
Shipping of Vext 2.0 begins in March, and every unit will include these features from day one.
Interested in collaborating?
With Vext 2.0 units soon heading into homes, we’re starting to look for content creators to collaborate with.
We’re mainly looking for creators focused on cooking, food, and wellness, but we’re also open to other categories where there is a clear fit. We care much more about thoughtfulness and genuine interest than follower count, and we’re happy to work with creators of all sizes, from small, passionate accounts to larger profiles. This includes both UGC creators and influencers. We’re especially interested in building longer-term collaborations rather than one-off posts.
For now, we’re focusing on creators based in Europe.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you.

Looking ahead
We are exploring different financing options.
The intention is long-term. For future customers, this will reduce wait times. For current customers, it allows us to continue improving the customer experience at an even faster pace while preserving our core-values and gold-standard level of thinking.
This work is ongoing, if you know someone we should talk to, reach out to christian(at)vext.fi. We will share more once there is something concrete to communicate.
Thank you for your patience and for trusting the process. Vext 2.0 is the result of thousands of small, deliberate decisions, and it is rewarding to see it move from design into reality.
We will share another update in a few weeks, once we have more progress from the factory to show.
Christian
