Our Story

How It All Began

A couple of years ago, our CEO, Christian, noticed a problem that many of us face: store-bought greens spoiled quickly and lacked the quality you’d expect from fresh produce, and growing them at home wasn't so easy after all.

Christian began looking for potential solutions and discovered that while many consumer smart gardens already existed, none provided sufficient value. Most were either cheap gadgets that could only handle a few herbs, looked very DIY, or offered a moderate customer experience at best.

In late 2022, Christian grew determined to make a change. He wanted to make a solution that was based entirely on what customers of other smart gardens liked and disliked. A product made by truly listening and understanding.

But to bring this vision to life, Christian needed a team, thankfully he soon realized that his childhood friends, Niklas and Vincent, would make just the team needed to bring Vext into reality.

Development Phase

During the development phase, we created many working prototypes, each version improving on the previous one’s faults and incorporating customer feedback.

The third prototype worked quite well, but still had some problems, and the quality was not up to par, but we were getting there!

Soft Launch

In October 2023, we attended the Wine & Food fair in Helsinki, an event with tens of thousands of attendees. We were there to launch our concept, which at the time was still a prototype. It was an intense experience filled with hundreds of conversations, and the weeks leading up to the fair were hectic, filled with long days to ensure the cabinets were ready in time, but it was all worth it because the event generated significant interest and valuable feedback from potential customers, and we even secured some pre-orders.

Vext 1.0 Shipped!

In the fall of 2024, we reached a major milestone: we shipped the first batch of Vext 1.0 to our customers. The feedback has been incredible, and seeing Vext in real homes has been both humbling and inspiring. It’s proof that a smart indoor garden can be beautiful, functional, and truly change the way fresh food is grown at home.

The Road Ahead: Vext v2.0

Building on the success of Vext 1.0, we’re excited to announce that we have successfully raised a funding round to take Vext to the next level. This funding will enable us to develop and bring Vext 2.0 to market.

What’s coming next?

  • In Q2 2025, we’ll unveil the final design and key features of Vext 2.0.
  • By the end of June 2025, orders will open.
  • And finally, in Q4 2025, we will ship the first batch of Vext 2.0 units to customers!

Our mission remains the same: to make growing fresh food at home effortless, clean, and beautiful.
